Registered Students

International students who apply for undergraduate programs are required to submit the following documents that meet admission requirements stated below.

  • Residence Permit

    Once they arrive, all international students in Turkey, regardless of status, must register with, and obtain, a Residence Permit from the Bureau of Foreign Residence Registration at the provincial Directorate of Security within one month of entering Turkey.

    To apply for Residence Permit (ikamet), you will need:

    • “Petition”, “Certificate of education” and “Scholarship document” provided by our Office
    • Application form - to be filled at the Directorate
    • Copy of the ID page of your passport
    • Copy of the passport page with the last entry stamp
    • 5 passport size photos

    After application, you will be given a receipt indicating the date you can pick up your passport and residence permit booklet. The permit is usually delivered in 2-3 days.

  • Health Insurance

    All students enrolled in the university must have a valid health insurance covering the duration of their program. Students are expected to submit the insurance to the International Office. When the insurance period expires, it must be renewed.

  • English Preparatory Class

    Students who are accepted to the programs whose instruction language is English, but cannot meet the given criteria attend the School of Foreign Languages accredited by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF).

    Students can take the English Proficiency Exam at Maltepe University at the beginning of each academic term, once a year and are expected to get the minimum scores stated below.

    If the students fail to reach the required minimum scores within two years, they can switch to the Turkish program or re-apply to the university.

    The English Preparatory Class is optional for students who are enrolled in undergraduate programs whose instruction language is Turkish. During undergraduate studies, students can take optional courses such as "Presentation Techniques," "English for Business," "Advanced English" and "TOEFL Exam Preparation" to develop their language skills in English in a specific field.

    Students are also offered elective language courses such as German, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

  • Turkish Language Courses

    Turkish and Foreign Languages ​​Research and Application Center (TÖMER) is a training center established to teach Turkish as a second language.

    In TÖMER, Turkish language education is offered within the scope of a five-course program in A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels. Within the framework of this program, students and trainees are provided with the competence to write Turkish literary texts (C1, C1 +) from the level of introducing themselves and meeting their basic needs (A1). The program lasts over a period of 6 or 7 weeks, and are offered within the framework of a 25- or 30-hour course program per week.

    A student who is admitted to the program whose language of instruction is Turkish at our university must have a minimum TÖMER score of B2. Students who do not have a valid proficiency score take the TÖMER Exam.

    Students who cannot meet the minimum score receive Turkish education for one year at TÖMER. After passing the exam, they start their undergraduate education.
